Frasier Meadows Weather -- Boulder, CO
Overview
Frasier Meadows Weather Overview
Frasier Meadows is an east-central Boulder neighborhood at approximately 5,295 feet, one of Boulder's lower-elevation residential areas. The neighborhood lies east of 28th Street and has a comfortable, sheltered microclimate: far enough from the foothills to avoid the most intense Chinook wind events, but still close enough to the mountains to enjoy the 300-plus sunny days and crisp, low-humidity air that defines Boulder's reputation.
Summer afternoons here occasionally produce milder thunderstorms than west-side neighborhoods -- the orographic forcing that concentrates storms over the Flatirons is somewhat diminished by the time cells reach Frasier Meadows, though intense cells still track through regularly. The Boulder Creek Path is within cycling distance and provides the main outdoor recreation corridor for the neighborhood.
Fall is particularly pleasant: Frasier Meadows' position away from the foothills means it stays slightly warmer in the evenings than higher-elevation neighborhoods while still capturing the brilliant September and October skies. The neighborhood's flat terrain and open character make it accessible for cycling and walking year-round.
Fire Risk and History
Frasier Meadows has a low wildfire risk. The neighborhood's interior urban location and distance from open wildland areas place it well outside any wildland-urban interface risk zone. Established residential development surrounds the neighborhood on all sides, and there is no direct open-space or grassland boundary that would introduce ignition risk. During regional fire events like the 2010 Fourmile Canyon Fire and the 2021 Marshall Fire, smoke reached the neighborhood but no evacuation orders or structural fire threat affected Frasier Meadows. Standard home fire safety practices — clear gutters, maintain roof surfaces — are the primary precautions recommended.
Elevation and Microclimate
| Elevation | 5295 ft |
| Zip Code | 80303 |
| County | Boulder County, CO |
| Wildfire Risk | Low |
| FEMA Flood Zone | Zone X |
At 5,295 feet, Frasier Meadows sits below most of Boulder's hillside neighborhoods, resulting in slightly warmer winter minimum temperatures and moderately warmer summer afternoons. The flat, open terrain means wind is directly felt during cold frontal passages without any terrain shelter, but Chinook events are noticeably less intense than in west Boulder.
Flood Zone Information
Frasier Meadows is classified FEMA Flood Zone X with minimal flood risk. The neighborhood is located away from the Boulder Creek active floodplain and drains effectively via the engineered stormwater infrastructure serving east-central Boulder. The September 2013 regional flood event produced no significant flooding within the Frasier Meadows residential area, though Boulder Creek to the northwest carried major flows during that event. Property owners near any local drainage channel should verify their specific parcel flood zone at FEMA's Flood Map Service Center.
